GST Transport Systems, Houston, Texas
This project is completing construction and will be applying for LEED certification. It is anticipated that the project will qualify for silver rating, with Klotz Associates supporting the team efforts for the LEED certification. The design of the site included a large detention system with a stormwater quality treatment structure that allowed the removal of the pollutants. Klotz Associates prepared construction plans for a fleet maintenance facility. The site totaled approximately 28 acres and included a 33,000-sf fleet maintenance building, 20,000-sf office building, and approximately 20 acres of concrete paved truck storage / access area. The design included a pumped stormwater detention basin, a sanitary sewer lift station, stormwater quality treatment structure, and other site improvements

SpawGlass Construction Office Building, Houston, Texas

This project was the first commercial building to receive LEED Silver accreditation in Houston, where Klotz Associates worked as part of the Design Team. Involving the site design for a new office building on a 4-acre site, the project included the design of the stormwater drainage for the site to maximize the usage of shallow, grass swales for conveyance and detention. The site design incorporated a shallow basin system that maximized overland flow, eliminating the need for a storm-pipe system. By utilizing a grass-swale system, we enhanced the stormwater quality treatment of the system. Also, stormwater quality treatment sediment basins were incorporated into the design.
