The project involved professional engineering services to evaluate channel improvements to the Fort Branch Channel, which has historically experienced flooding. The Klotz Associates team surveyed portions of the channel and updated the hydrologic and hydraulic models for the watershed. The team also conducted several field reconnaissance visits and photo documented the channel. Additionally, we performed a Geographic Information System (GIS) evaluation of the drainage area development conditions and extended the current hydraulic model upstream past US 290 to an approximately 64-acre drainage area. More than 260 structures were surveyed to update the database information for Fort Branch. Klotz Associates utilized the updated information, hydrology, hydraulics, and slab data, along with high water marks to provide calibration of the models to a historical recent storm.
