When the Brazoria County Conservation and Reclamation District #3 needed timely and cost efficient solutions to area drainage and flooding issues, they engaged Klotz Associates to provide inventive options for Mustang Bayou Tributary #1 (M-1), the city of Alvin's largest drainage channel.

In an area affecting 530 acres and thousands of homes and businesses, enlarging the existing channel meant facing sensitive right-of-way issues and costly bridge and canal modifications. The Klotz Associates team quickly converged on a more practical solution - a channel bypass. Today, the M-1 channel has enhanced flood protection, increased safety, and saved significant money.
