As Program Manager for this assignment, Klotz Associates managed 16 consultants who designed 22 separate hike-and-bike trail projects on a fast-track schedule across a 9-month window. More than 77 miles of trail were designed through parks, along bayous, and through residential neighborhoods. Quality of life issues were a high priority. The firm’s environmental engineers responded with design that complemented the natural settings and landscapes for which Houston is famous. Keys to completion of design on time and below budget were detailed environmental assessments and timely regulatory submittals, including those to the US Army Corps of Engineers. The Klotz Associates team anticipated key environmental issues such as identification of wetlands and potential hazardous waste impacts and accomplished Phase 2 assessments that addressed these potential impacts. |
