METRO Traffic On-call
METRO has awarded Klotz Associates’ Traffic / ITS / Planning group three consecutive on-call contracts and one ITS on-call contract since 2000. Work performed under those contracts has included:

Reviewed six METRO HOV-lane corridors and identified possible locations for freeway guide signing and downtown trailblazer signs on arterial streets. Prepared guide sign legends and determined feasibility of locating signs at proposed locations for freeway-to-freeway signing system, including an area-wide schematic. Also prepared preliminary estimate of cost.

Performed conversion and / or optimization of existing signal timing for more than 160 intersections on METRO bus routes to Next Phase format. Input existing signal timings into the Next Phase database editor for implementation.

Galveston Signal Improvements
The project involved traffic signal design at 40 locations along Seawall Boulevard and Avenues D, E, F, O, and P. The signal improvements were designed to comply with Federal ADA requirements and in accordance with TxDOT and City of Galveston standards and specifications. The project also included preparation of fiber optic communication design plans along Seawall Boulevard, Avenue O, and Avenue P. In addition, development of congestion mitigation measures and optimization of signal timing plans were conducted along Seawall Boulevard. The construction budget for these improvements was approximately $4,000,000 and the design was completed over a period of 16 months.
